Ella BFFs--Celebrating Friendship

Today, me and my BFFs over at Ella Publishing are having a little blog hop celebrating--what else?--friendship.

I have been blessed to make many good friends over the years. Some so very kind that they spent this past week filling out forms and notarizing them to witness to the general stability of my character. They have pulled through bad times (horrible breakup right before a trip to Disneyland in late 2007, anyone?) and been with me in good times. They have made me snort apple juice up my nose and laugh so hard my chest was actually in pain.

They are truly, truly the best. And I believe my marriage has been much better and stronger because of all the love, care, compromise, and problem-solving I got to do with my friends first.

Joining the scrapbooking world has led me to even more friends, also wonderful and giving and kind people. I'm fortunate to work with them on the Ella team, as we explore scrapbooking--and our lives--from new angle.

When I think about what I've gained from the scrapbooking community, I can't help but think of these friends. Their talent, their heart, and their wisdom are reflected in the projects they create. I feel very honored to be counted among this wonderful group of women, and I appreciate all of you!

In honor of this blog hop, I whipped up this layout about friendship:

In case you can't read the little tag, it says "friendship is a sheltering tree--Samuel Taylor Coleridge." A googling of "friendship + tree" led to some misses, but eventually to this quote, which I love.

Here's a closeup:

And for a little token of my friendship, I am GIVING AWAY a box of scrappy goodies to one lucky commenter below!

  3. what a beautiful layout. my girlfriends are my lifeblood - i cannot imagine my life without them - i love my husband don't get me wrong, but there are times when he's not interested in hearing me go on (and on) about how much i love my hair straightner one minute and then the next minute swapping to something else entireley serious -- that is the beauty of girlfriends, you can talk about everything and nothing all at once!

  4. Love the tree! Friendship is such a precious gift. My son had a few accidents this year (concussion & stitches). I was so blessed to see my Facebook wall full of good wishes and prayers from my friends. It was such a cool reminder that I am not alone.

I've had really great friends and really not so great friends, this has taught me not only life lessons, but about the kind of friend I want to be to others. for example, You're always so sweet to comment on my blog, so I try to comment on the many blogs that I read to!

  20. What a great LO! So cute.

Friendship has always been important to me but since I've moved overseas, friends have become my family away from home. Wherever we are in this world, I tend to make friendships that are very special. Being away from home makes it more important to me to develop close friends.

Thanks for the chance to win some goodies! Dana

  33. That tree is just adorable. Hmmm, how has friendship changed my life? Well, I love my friends, but I think one thing I realized is that there are trying times when you realize who your TRUE friends are. For example, I was in a sorority in college. I got married and hour away from campus...and NONE of my sisters showed up, even though they said they were. The only two there were my bridesmaids. My DH's friends drove 6 hours to be there and my "friends" couldn't drive an hour??? Told me a lot about them. I learned who my true friends were that day. Sorry that's so down, but it's a lesson I've learned.

  34. Love that layout! So unique! I did something similar (but very basic) for my daughter last year at Thanksgiving. I had her tell me the things she was most thankful for. All I have to say is that it is a difficult thing as an adult to have true friends that stick. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  35. I don't have a big bunch of girlfriends or ladies night out. I have a few very close friends that I have been friends with for many years but don't see or talk to often enough. I have had lots of guy friends, and those were always easier for me. My best friend today is my husband. And the guy (a mutual friend) who introduced us is a wonderful, loyal friend to both of us - he certainly has changed my life! I am hoping to make a few friends now that my DD has started school, and hoping they aren't just circumstantial friends.

Love your tree and the quote!

  36. I don't have many friends, but the few I have are really good friends. I prefer it that way! I can count on them and they can count on me!
Love your layout! Love how colorful it is!
